Frisco Sour with a Twist

I just picked up some Bénédictine a french herbal liqueur made from 27 plants and spices, so needless to say I was eager to use it in a cocktail.

This cocktail is also thanks to Jay @ http://ohgo.sh/

The Frisco Sour is a unique take on a Whiskey Sour, and the interesting mix of ingredients had my interest piqued. Bénédictine generally gives cocktails quite the herbal taste, and lemon juice drinks without simple syrup can get tart, so I was curious how this would turn out.

The result was a pleasant surprise the ingredients balanced themselves out wonderfully, the Bénédictine didn’t overpower the drink just added to its complexity. The drink was a hit with my wife as well. The key is to measure the lemon and lime juice carefully, I would error on the side of slightly less than more as it can get too tart quickly.

Frisco Sour

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Bénédictine
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ¼ oz lime juice

Shake well with ice and fine strain in to a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
